Helper/Handyman

Total Commercial Solutions is looking for Helper/Handyman to work in downtown Vancouver.

This is a full-time position that requires schedule flexibility. It can require traveling to different job sites. The candidate needs to have a basic electrical, using power tool (drills etc.), and FULLY VACCINATED with PROOF OF VACCINATION.

We are installing automatic shut-off valves on the hot and cold-water services of 211 residential units and two commercial units. After valve installation, we require a handyman to install the control systems. These include:

  1. A control panel. The panel is about 5 by 7 inches and clips onto a wall mount. The valves have a wire that is to be connected to the control panel. Internal to the control panel is a cellular module that has an antenna. The antenna is to be inserted through the drywall to “hang” behind the drywall.
  2. In each unit, we also must install several sensors. The sensors are about 2-inch diameter and ¼ inch plus high. They are placed on the floor or bottom of a cabinet beneath all sinks, toilets, dishwashers, and laundry washers. These units are battery powered with the batteries already installed. If they sense water (0.04 mm) they send a signal to the controller which in turn signals the solenoid on the valves to close.
  3. There is also a motion sensor which is to be mounted on a wall near the front door.
  4. Finally, the serial number of the controller and of each sensor needs to be recorded, the controller with reference to the condo number and the sensors with respect to their installed location. This information enables monitoring of the specific source of a leak and for equipment failure or maintenance required.

The job duties include but not limited to:

  • Preparing walls, ceilings, and floors for general improvements, also make minor repairs to heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical systems
  • Take before and after pictures, emailing job reports
  • Maintain and report any deficiencies of equipment
  • Communicate with customers, be able to work with others as a team
